On today’s episode of Getting Social with Miriam, I had an incredible guest with me, Dr Kathleen Paris. However before I disclose more about her, I want to ask you this question. For those who are not working from home, and who are working at an office with other co-workers around you- how many of you feel draggy when you get home? How many of you feel emotionally and even physically sapped? And many times when that happens, you are not going to be spending quality time with your loved ones, or you may even lose patience with them. Household chores may not get done, bills may not be paid on time, and you may find that life is exhausting you. What you may not realize is that a lot of your stress is stemming from an unhealthy work environment. Today, Dr Kathleen Paris who is an author and consultant spoke about that on today’s podcast. She speaks on healthy work places, provides consulting for strategic planning, process improvement and redesign, and professional development for leaders. Dr. Paris had written her book Staying Healthy in Sick Organizations: The Clover Practice? (BookSurge, 2008), and it was the business ?Book of the Month? on http://www.bookreview.com for nearly a year. This book aims for less workplace stress.

The Clover Practice? comes from Paris?s 20-plus years as a management consultant and, like a clover, consists of three principles:

Tell the Truth, Always

Speak for Yourself

Declare Your Interdependence

All three of these principles are simple, and not easy to live. Paris says. ?If peace of mind is the aim, we need to be truthful even when it?s not convenient and even when we don?t look too good. White lies even compromise our integrity and the degree to which others trust us. This does not mean we say everything that comes to mind. We don?t have to share our opinions on everything. They are just our opinions, after all, and not eternal truths.? Listen to the podcast here, and connect with Dr. Kathleen Paris on her website http://kathleenparis.com/
