What is Considered to be a High Klout Score Anyway?

I am going to make this post to the point and short. I haven’t been feeling all that great lately so blogging has been the last thing on my mind but I don’t want to neglect this so this is the best opportunity to blog, for now anyway. Plenty of people have asked me what Klout score is considered to be high. The best answer I can give is that it depends on who you are asking.

According to Klout, the average score is now 40 (used to be 20 before the August 14th change) but only 5{a0065375a7e2d1c093abc1aba7894b1ad713a40df7f413d8a34d916c8e570350} of users have a score of 63 and above (it used to be 50 and above). So I suppose that means a score of 63 and above is considered to be high. But not everyone is going to agree with that. Especially for those who have much higher scores. In my eyes that is a very good score and I am happy to see many professionals having scores around that (there are many who don’t and they are the ones who I am helping). But to be frank, I would not be happy with that score for myself. That is because I am used to having a score in the mid-70’s (aiming for higher and slowly getting there, and yes it gets much harder as you climb higher).

Not to mention if you were to ask a celebrity that question, he or she would have a different take on that completely. Anything under 90 in their case is considered to be low. That is understandable. Could you imagine Kim Kardashian having a score of a measly 76 like myself? That would be horrible. In fact I believe her’s is right around 90. It must drive her nuts that Britney Spears and Lady Gaga have higher scores than her.

Britney Spears has a Klout score of 96 and if you notice one of her influencers, Lady Gaga has a score of 93. Not to sound discouraging, but unless you are a celebrity like they are, don’t count on getting a score even close to theirs.

But let’s get back to reality here. As I have said in previous posts, more and more employers are looking at Klout scores of applicants. Especially if they are in the marketing field which to be honest I am in favor of because it is an indicator of how well they market themselves or interact with others online. I have read some “looking to hire” ads that the requirements of applicants were to have “X number of years of experience as well as a score of 50 and above”. So I suppose 50+ is still considered high to some. That is good news for those who are hoping to get a marketing job and are having a difficult time reaching 51.

In other words, what is really a high score? Klout basically said that 63+ is elite and anything under 40 is low. But the true answer to that is, its all about perspective.
